FINANCE WEEK ON HAPPILY MARRIED AFTER AUGUST 22nd – AUGUST 28th

CONTEST RULES AND PRIZES BELOW!

It’s no secret that one of the most common problems in marriage is the topic of money. Particularly new marriages, but some couples are still trying to slay that finance dragon years into their marriage and it causes big problems. I think every couple that I’ve ever met talked about dealing with getting on the same page about marriage at one point or another. In fact, an article in the New York Times quotes a study that charts the direct correlation between finance-related tension and risk of divorce. The report cited that couples who argue once per week were 30 percent more likely to get divorced than a couple who had a finances spat maybe a few times per month.

So because we want you to be Happily Married After and also not flat broke and fighting, we present to you FINANCE WEEK! (enter music, Money, money, money moneeeeey. MONEY!!!) This week we will be discussing topics around finances and the foundational issue with getting you and your spouse on the same page so no matter what financial state your money is currently in, you can get started repairing both your finances and elimating the risk of ending it all over the ‘almighty dollar.’

NOW FOR THE FUN PART! — There’s also some FREEBIES! There’s nothing that spells financial reprieve like something you don’t have to pay for, right? Right. I absolutely cannot wait to follow this series!! Money has been a huge issue for my husband and I ever since we got married.

For the last two years we have been in various stages of school, unemployment and poorly paid positions with rough hours/locations. The stress of not having enough money has weighed on us differently each time something new comes up. I found that the biggest thing that helped us, is to recognize that we’re in this together.

When we both recognized that we were going to be graduating soon (and thus losing financial aid assistance) we began saving and cutting back. It was that rainy day fund that is helping us now. Talking together and getting on the same page/same team helps us enormously. Although we still have a lot of stress, we’re doing our part to help each other instead of just being angry that we’re broke :)

I can’t wait to hear what this blog has to say!!! Thank you!

to be honest, money is not a big issue of ours except that we don’t have enough..YET.

Will be following your series though because i have been finding that the best way to a happy marriage is to keep learning about marriage and each other.
